My Thoughts -Have We Become A Wet Diaper Society?

Have we become a wet diaper society?

Some of you may be scratching your head going, huh?

When in all honesty, just take a look at local news, county news, state news, national or international news or even Facebook.

Like a young child with a wet diaper crying, it appears to me that as a whole, our society has become what I would call a wet diaper society in that everything offends someone 24/7-like news coverage.

Everything that one says leads to great debate, job loss, hours and hours of news broadcast time is filled with wet diaper items.

Now, I'm not that old, nor would I admit that I am, but often in the days of old if someone made a stupid statement or stupid comment people would say, "Looks like you really stuck your foot in your mouth on that one." They would then make a public apology and the world would move on, but not today.

In today’s minute by minute world we live in, people have forgotten how to forgive someone for simply saying something stupid..not necessarily thinking before opening their mouths. Something we are taught as children is to think before you speak but as young children,  sometimes in the heat of the moment,  something stupid will come out..ask my wife, I don't make a habit of it, but in my adult life, yes I have said something stupid.

In the Bible, we are told not to pass judgement, forgive others, Jesus stated, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”

I'm sure I just offended someone by relating to the Bible and Jesus, here comes the wet diapers.

You don't have to agree with my description of the issue at hand, but you have to admit everyone gets wound up, more vocal, or outraged over spoken or printed words more often now than ever.

Words and statements do hurt peoples’ feelings. I get that. I have been on the receiving end of wet diaper issues more than I ever thought I would in life, but like the old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me."

Really, a child slogan passed down from generation to generation, I'm bringing that up?

Yes, the world as a whole needs to just take a deep breath. Just  realize that while it doesn't make it right for people to blurt out a stupid comment or have an opposing view to yours that makes you outraged enough to get into a verbal attack on them or cause them to lose their employment, it’s just words.

Like the other childhood slogan I often remember and have told my children a time or two, "In one ear and out the other." Just let it go for the sake of a dry diaper.
