COVID-19 Cases Rapidly Increasing Across State

COVID-19 cases are accelerating across Missouri, with 11,170 new ones identified over the last week.

Missouri is up to 156,696 cases, up from 144,230 on Oct. 11.

There were 2,357 cases reported on Saturday, the highest single-day total on record.

The state also has seen a seven-day positivity rate of 19.7%, up from 14% the previous week.

Missouri is up to 2,582 deaths.

Hospitalizations are on a steady incline. As of Friday, there were 1,431 people hospitalized. 

According to data provided by the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services, the state’s caseload over the last seven days is the seventh highest in the United States.

In Crawford County, 64 new cases were reported over the last week, rising from 481 to 545.

Health Department Director Honor Evans said that they are no longer including congregate living cases in their bi-weekly reports.

“We are still seeing a few congregate living cases, but not large outbreaks/surges like we did a few weeks ago,” Evans said.

As of Oct. 15, the county had 534 cases, with 68 active.

Ten deaths have been reported.

DHSS said Crawford County ranks 54th in the state by total volume, but the 55 cases per 100,000 ranks 46th.

Counties

Franklin County, which ranks 14th in volume and 10th in cases per 100,000, is up to 2,321 overall.

Phelps County increased from 589 to 759.

Washington County went from 544 to 596.

Dent County saw a jump from 197 to 230.

Gasconade County jumped from 186 to 217.

Iron County increased from 73 to 91.
