Sales Tax Jumps 12% In May

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax saw a 12% spike in May.

The county hauled in $259,177.08, up from $229,952.79 in May 2020.

Through the first six months of 2021, Crawford County has brought in $1,151.486.98.

That total is up from $1,123,225 through the same point last year.

Crawford County has seen its sales tax ebb and flow.

The year started out down 12% from December, then skyrocketed 31% in January.

It rose again 9% in February, but dropped 12% in March and 3% in April.

May’s collection is the highest monthly total in 2021 and the most since the county brought in $293,641 last August.

The law enforcement and capital improvement sales taxes saw an increase of nearly 11%.

Both taxes brought in $126,849.49, up from $114.371.63 in May 2020.

So far through 2021, both taxes have brought in around $554,696.

Collection was down 9% in December, up 28% in January, up again 6% in February and down 11% in March.

It was up 1.3% in April.
