COVID-19 Cases Slightly Up In County

After weeks of seeing cases in the single digits, Crawford County reported 13 COVID-19 cases for the week ending June 30.

The county has confirmed 2,346 cases, 331 probable cases and 40 deaths to date.

The seven-day positivity rate was gone from one of the lowest in the state to middle of the pack — standing at 7.8%. That was 64th highest.

Eleven counties in the state were reporting positivity rates higher than 20%.

Shelby County led the way with a 30% positivity rate.

Newton, Worth, Douglas, Stoddard, Jasper, Holt, Cooper, Shannon, Monroe and Morgan counties all ranged between 27% and 21%.

Rising Cases

The Delta variant is fueling the uptick in cases.

Missouri remains the nation’s hotspot for COVID-19.

For the week ending June 30, there  were 4,175 new cases, a daily average of 596.

There were another 1,937 probable cases.

Missouri has confirmed 526,631 total cases and 9,339 deaths.

There were 21 deaths reported for the week ending June 30.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is 9.5%, a rise from 2% the week before.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations are sharply rising.

As of June 30, there were 958 people hospitalized, up from 855 a week earlier.

There were 268 patients in ICU.

ICUs are nearly full in the southwestern part of the state, where hospitalizations are up to 348

Of those, 137 are in ICU, leaving just 8% bed capacity.

Hospitalizations are up again in the St. Louis region, rising from 239 to 279.

There were 56 patients in ICU and bed capacity is just 16%.

Vaccine

Through July 2, the state had at least partly vaccinated 55% of its 18 and older population.

Of that, 48.7% have completed the regimen.

Of the total population, 44.6% have initiated the vaccine and 39.2% have completed it.

There were 8,351 vaccinations administered per day.
