County Still Ranks Near Bottom In Vaccination Rate

Crawford County still remains near the bottom of the state in percentage of residents who have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of Saturday, 5% of residents have been given the first dose, which is less than half the state average of 10.1%.

Through Feb. 6, the county’s vaccination rate was 3.6%

The COVID-19 dashboard by the Department of Health and Senior Services reported that as of Saturday, 1,203 residents have been given the first dose and 1,490 total doses have been administered.

Counties that rank worse than Missouri include McDonald and Barry (4.7%), Pemiscot (4.5%) and Newton and Pulaski (4.2%).

From Feb. 7-13, 454 residents received a dose of the vaccine.

Surrounding counties are outpacing Crawford.

In Gasconade County, more than 15% of residents have received at least one dose.

Crawford County now has several locations offering the COVID-19 vaccine, including pharmacies and the Cuba Walmart.

The state is allocating 53% of its weekly dosage to selected hospitals, 23% to mass events in each of the nine highway patrol regions and 23% to local public health agencies, federally qualified health centers and other providers.

A mass vaccination site was held in Salem over the weekend.

As of Saturday, 843,740 doses have been administered.

Of that, 617,042 residents have received the first dose and 226,698 the second.
