County Sales Tax Jumps 39 Percent

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax jumped 39 percent compared to April 2019, totaling $185,026.97.

The county collected $132,295.47 in April 2019.

Despite a global pandemic over COVID-19, the county being under a shelter in place order that shut down non-essential businesses and restricted dine-in service at restaurants, Crawford County did not suffer a blow.

Historically, April has been one of the worst months for sales tax collection in Crawford County.

Through the five months of collection, which counts December 2019, Crawford County has hauled in $893,275.41.

In 2019, the county collected $836,820.46, a jump of more than $57,000.

Crawford County has posted year-over-year increases in back-to-back months. 

Revenue was up nearly 11 percent in March compared to March 2019.

Through February, the county was down around $17,000 compared to the same time period last year.
