County’s Vaccination Rate Still Lagging

Crawford County’s COVID-19 vaccination rate is still near the bottom of the state.

Perhaps impacted by the cancellation of mass events and snowy roads, just 5.9% of county residents have received a dose of the vaccine.

Through Feb. 14, 5% had been given at least one dose.

Crawford County is tied for the sixth-lowest vaccination rate in Missouri.

Pemiscot County also has a 5.9% rate.

Shannon (5.8%), McDonald (5%), Newton (4.8%) and Pulaski (4.3%) all rank lower.

Shelby County, located in the northeastern portion, ranks the highest.

At least 21.1%  of residents have received at least one dose.

Gasconade County also ranks among the highest, with 17.3% receiving at least one dose.

In Crawford County, 1,415 residents have received at least one dose and 459 are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, Missouri has given at least one dose to 11.4% of its residents and 5.3% are fully vaccinated.

Gov. Mike Parson said in a press conference Feb. 18 that the state will have the capacity to administer 50,000 vaccines daily once supply allows it.

It was not known at press time where Missouri would hold its weekly mass vaccination events.

Mass events are held in each of the state’s nine highway patrol regions.

Parson canceled the events last week to due to extreme winter weather.
