Boosters Cancel 2020 Fall Festival

The Bourbon Boosters announced July 28 that the 2020 Fall Festival is canceled.

“After much consideration and discussion about how we could do it safely, we couldn’t find a solution,” the Boosters said in a statement on its Facebook page. “We especially regret canceling the parade.”

To support the club’s other activities throughout the year, the Boosters said a raffle will be held with a $500 cash prize.

Tickets will be available for $5 each or five for $20.

A drawing is planned for the Christmas tree lighting.

Details are still to come.

“We decided that COVID-19 may stop the Fall Festival, but it will not stop us boosting Bourbon,” the Boosters said. “We look forward to a fantastic Fall Festival in 2021.”

Car Show

The Bourbon Economic Development Group has held a car show and barbeque competition in conjunction with the Fall Festival.

Chuck Ray of the BED said no decision has been made yet on whether the car show will proceed.

Ray said the board and committee are in discussions and they hope to know more following this week’s business meeting.

BED planned to hold its pork steak cook-off on June 6, but that was canceled.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced event organizers from around the area to cancel various gatherings.

Both the Meramec Community Fair and Crawford County Fair were canceled this summer. Other fairs and festivals also have been canceled or limited.
