Board Passes FY2017 Budget
The Bourbon Board of Aldermen passed its fiscal year 2017-2018 budget Tuesday night without much discussion.
A public hearing took less than 10 minutes to complete and the $1.2 million budget was agreed upon unanimously later on that night.
The budgets for each department respectively:
City hall: $281,542
Municipal court: $11,120
Police: $260,600
Street: $158,375
Park: $32,750
Water: $304,047
Sewer: $222,305
City employees received a 2 percent cost of living adjustment.
Municipal Court
After the board voted to dissolve the court earlier this year, the budget was whacked from $25,214 in 2016-2017 to $11,120.
The only expenses remaining are $9,700 in legal wages; $750 in tax expenses; $100 in court insurance and $500 in legal fees for a special prosector.
Police
The department budget has been increased from $237,050 in 2016-2017. The half-cent sales tax that was passed by voters in April 2016 and took effect in October is projected to bring in $71,500 in revenue.
General fund revenue for a vehicle loan of $25,860 and capital improvement funds of $2,500 for the building boosts the budget.
