BED Cancels 2020 Car Show
Following a long period of deliberation and weighing the pros and cons, the Bourbon Economic Development Group has announced the 2020 car show is canceled.
BED was scheduled to hold the third annual event on Saturday, Sept. 19, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they will begin planning for next year.
The 2020 Fall Festival also has been canceled.
Before the pandemic began altering summer and fall plans across the nation, BED planned to hold its fourth annual BBQ With Bourbon event on June 6.
That, too, was canceled.
Earlier this year, BED announced that John Craig, a pitmaster who used to compete in the BBQ circuit, would be the chairman for the event.
Craig planned on introducing three different types of meat categories for competitors.
Chuck Ray, president of the BED, said they are refocusing their efforts on next year’s events.
The BBQ competition and car show are in the works, along with a barrel tour.
Ray said BED is looking at other initiatives “to drive up our tourism and increase local business successes.”
In addition, BED is working with city hall and other organizations to add tenants to the industrial park.
Ray said announcements on those are forthcoming.
