XC Country Boys Capture Narrow Victory In Steelville
Sullivan’s cross country team raced their third course of the season at the Steelville Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 19.
High School Boys
The junior varsity boys took home a first-place finish, scoring 27 and beating the runner-up Kingston by a point.
Head coach Terry described the win as “a welcome surprise!” He stated, “The boys I picked to run the JV race needed a finish to see how they could stack up and they delivered. It was a narrow win, but it meant our runners were ahead of who they needed to be.”
Samuel Simington was Sullivan’s first runner to complete the race. He ranked third with a time of 21:16.9.
Ayden Duncan medaled with a seventh-place finish, clocking in at 22:25.1.
Beau Jenkins was the 13th runner to cross the finish line, posting a time of 24:08.8.
William Hunter followed at 15th (25:48.2), Austin Ray took 17th (26:02.7) and Keegan Larrison (28:38.0) placed 21st.
Jayson Summers finished with the second-quickest time of Sullivan’s boys. He completed the course in 22:13.8, finishing 42nd in varsity.
High School Girls
The Lady Eagles rounded out the top eight with 208 points.
Leeah Deleski was first to cross the finish line for Sullivan. She placed 29th with a time of 26:19.5.
Gracie Edmonston took 53rd, completing the course in 32:26.1.
Jessica Redd ranked 57th, clocking in at 33:34.3.
Jordyn Tilford finished 72nd at 41:54.2, and Abigail Erfurth followed at 42.38.9.
