Wrestling Crushes Owensville/Potosi At Home
The boys wrestling team (5-2) defeated Potosi (6-3) 55-15 and Owensville 57-13 at their home tri-meet on Thursday, Dec. 14.
Colton Brendel (165) first took down Karsen Boyer (Potosi) in 1:59 and then notched his 100th career win against Cael Walker (Owensville) with a 1:12 pin.
Malachi Barton (215) had both his opponents from Potosi and Owensville forfeit.
Carter Blankenship (120) rested in the Potosi round after his opponent forfeited. He later defeated Noel Baquio (Owensville) in just 0:59.
Jace Martin (138) put in a strong effort but fell to Blayne Maxwell (Potosi) and Landen Losch (Owensville) during the night.
Dominic Ransom (144) dominated the mat, shutting down Curtis Sampson (Potosi) in 1:39 and Kyle Bollmann (Owensville) in 1:35.
After Adam Peregoy (150) lost to Carter Pyatt (Potosi) in a 9-4 decision, he gained 6 points in his second round when his opponent forfeited.
Austin Ray (157) crushed Landon Sprous (Potosi) in a 1:32 fall but couldn’t secure a win against Kyle Blair (Owensville) in a 10-5 decision.
Girls
The girls wrestling team (3-1) also dominated at home, crushing Potosi (6-3) 54-18 and Owensville 46-24.
Dorie Richardson (140) relaxed in the first round as her Potosi opponent forfeited. She then battled Kylie Bates (Owensville) for nearly 3 minutes before finally pinning her down.
Jade Studdard (135) gave her opponents no chance, shutting down Carly Saunders (Potosi) in 1:24 and Lily Barker (Owensville) in 0:58.
Katie Summers (145) shut down Jade Ramsey (Potosi) in just 0:50 and emerged as the victor over Merrick Blankenship (Owensville) in a grueling 4:33 match.
Maria Schatzl (155) defeated Launa Cantrell (Potosi) in 1:24 and Mckenzy Echols (Owensville) in 4:46.
Ruby Daily (170) pinned McKenley Dicus (Potosi) in 1:08 but struggled against Bailee Dare (Owensville).
