Winter Sports Gear Up For January
After rest and practice during the break, Sullivan’s winter sports teams will be prepared to resume action in January. Both basketball teams strive for more consistency in their performances and improve their chemistry on the court. Wrestling aims to continue its dominance at tournaments and meets, eventually taking over at the state level.
Boys Basketball
Boys basketball holds a 1-8 record and hopes to turn around their season after winter break. Varsity will face off at home against Northwest (Cedar Hill) on Friday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m.
Girls Basketball
Girls basketball has a 3-6 record and hopes to bring in a win for the new year against Potosi on Thursday, Jan. 4.
Boys Wrestling
The 5-2 boys’ wrestling team will continue their dominance on Friday, Jan. 5, at Lafayette (St. Joseph). They will compete at the Cameron Crossroad Duals the day after and at the Four Rivers Conference tournament the following Tuesday in Pacific. Sullivan’s next home meet will be the Friday Night Take Down Scramble at 5 p.m. against Dexter, St. James, Osage and Central (Park Hills).
Girls Wrestling
Girls wrestling is currently on a roll with a 3-1 record and will next compete at Windsor on Jan. 6. They then head to Pacific for the Four Rivers Conference tournament on Jan. 9.
