Volleyball Sweeps Away Three Opponents

The Lady Eagles are locked in and motivated for districts.

Sullivan has been rolling through their opponents late in the season.

Their record stands at 18-12-3 this season.

Their last loss was against Union at home and traveled to two Franklin County teams to start the week.

The Lady Eagles defeated Washington on Monday in four sets. Sullivan swept St. Clair the next night and on Thursday they swept St. James at home.

Washington

The Lady Eagles started the week motivated. They won the first two sets both, 25-23. The Lady Blue Jays squeezed by in the third set, 25-19. Sullivan finished off Washington in the fourth, 25-20.

Emma Brune, who previously broke the school record in kills, led the team  with 15. She had one ace and two points. Olivia Witt followed in kills with 13. She also had one ace and assist and finished with ten points. Freshman, Ava Blankenship followed with 11 kills. Stevi Saling had four kills and two assists. Reagan Johnson made two kills, one ace, and nine points. Anna Brooks got a kill, ace, and three points. Ali Blue finished with a kill. Emily Clonts made three points.

Maci Nolie finished with a staggering 42 assists. She also notched five kills and aces. She led in points with 20.

St. Clair

On Tuesday, Sullivan traveled to St. Clair. The Lady Eagles showed up the Lady Bulldogs. Sullivan swept St. Clair, 25-12, 25-13, and 25-21.

Senior, Brune led in kills again with 15. She also had an ace and a point. Senior, Witt followed with 11 kills. She also had an ace, two assists, and nine points. Blankenship made eight kills. Juergens notched one kill. Saling secured two kills. Johnson landed two kills, three aces, and ten points. Brooks blasted three aces and eighteen points.

Nolie led the team assists again with 28. She also had two kills, two aces, and four points.

St. James

Sullivan continued the dominant performance on Thursday. The Lady Tigers were swept by Sullivan, 25-13, 25-6, and 25-12.

In the first set, the Lady Eagles took control right away when they scored the first three points unanswered. The ball went out, but the Lady Eagles scored again. When the score was 7-3, Sullivan was up to serve. Senior Godfrey served three unanswered points before St. James took a timeout. Nolie set a perfect spike to  Brune when the ladies made the score 15-3. Sullivan remained in control when Brune was serving and St. James finally made the score 19-5. The Lady Tigers tried to put a dent in the scoreboard, but Nolie and Blankenship. Freshman Blankenship delivered again and the score was 22-10. Sullivan secured the first set victory, 25-13.

In the second set, the Lady Tigers fell again to Sullvain’s dominance. During this set, St. James didn’t even have time to break ten points. The Lady Eagles drew four points before the Lady Tigers scored one, St. James scored their third point, Brune spiked it right back, 8-3. Godfrey served big scores again and St. James took a time out, 12-4. The Lady Tigers squeezed in a point, but Sullivan snapped back. Senior Blue served more scores and the Lady Tigers took another timeout, 19-5. The Lady Eagles stamped out St. James in the second, 25-6.

In the final set, Sullivan slayed St. James for the last time. St. James wasn’t going down without a fight. Sullivan drew first blood, but the Lady Tigers answered back. Blue served four more unanswered points before St. James made the score 6-2. The Lady Tigers tied it at six, but Sullivan broke the tie and took control. St. James took a timeout when Brune was serving, 16-8. Godfrey was on fire when she spiked the ball back to St. James, 18-8. The Lady Tigers took another time out to try to get their bearings, 23-12. Sullivan sealed the victory when Brune blasted a huge spike, 25-12.

Brune led the team in kills with 12. She also notched an ace and nine points. Saling followed in kills with 9. Witt tallied five kills, one ace, and two points. Juergens got three kills. Blankenship blasted two kills. Blue claimed two kills, three aces, and fourteen points. Godfrey followed in points with twelve.

Nolie led in assists with 23. She also finished with four kills, one ace, and eight points.
