Volleyball Serves Up A Sweep Over St. James

The Lady Eagles (6-8) delivered a rout over St. James (0-8) by scores of 25-8, 25-9 and 25-12. Sullivan snapped a seven-game losing skid in their conference sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 24. 

The Lady Eagles served up twelve unanswered points to begin the first set. 

Ava Blankenship spiked the first score, and Stevi Saling drilled in more kills to keep their momentum going. 

Karlee Head executed a hat trick of three consecutive aces. 

Blankenship fired the final kill shot for a 25-8 victory.

Sullivan started their second contest with a 6-0 lead over St. James. 

For the ninth point, Abby Record faked a jump to pretend she was spiking while Allie Brune came up from behind for the kill. 

Chloe Carson was flooring opponents with aces and executing low digs to keep Sullivan alive in battles. 

Abby Record surprised St. James with roll shots, leading the Lady Eagles to win their second set 25-9.

Sullivan wrapped up their sweep with a dominant performance in the third contest.

Andi Giebler and Ava Todd both executed back-to-back aces. 

St. James rallied to cut their deficit by half at the end. But Brune fired Sullivan’s game-winning point, shutting down the Lady Tigers’ comeback hopes.

Stats

Blankenship made the first ace of her three-year career against St. James. She served up two against the Lady Tigers. The junior also led Sullivan with 10 points and eight kills while drilling 11 attacks.

Saling also played as a server, landing two aces over the net. She recorded ten attacks, seven points, five kills and an assist.
