Volleyball Jamboree

The Lady Eagles’ volleyball team faced Potosi and Owensville in a home jamboree last Tuesday. The team that reached 25 points first won the match.

Potosi won the first of the three sets against Sullivan with scores of 25-17, 13-25 and 15-25. However, the Lady Eagles rallied back with three decisive victories against Owensville. Sullivan won all sets, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-22.

Potosi

In their first set, the Eagles clawed out Potosi, 25-17. Sullivan controlled the lead for the majority of time. Raegan Johnson and Emily Clonts both delivered sharp spikes into Trojan territory to secure the victory.

The tables had turned and the Trojans struck back in the last two matches, winning 13-25 and 15-25. Sullivan’s defensive front struggled to catch up with Potosi’s hits. With having their mojo back, Potosi would go on to crush Owensville right after.

Owensville

The Eagles blew out the Lady Dutchmen in all three matches. However, both teams remained neck-in-neck against each other until Sullivan would reach 25.

Sullivan rallied to beat Owensville 25-19 after initially trailing 9-4. Delaney George served well, Abby Record tied the game at 13-13 and Ava Todd served an ace to put Sullivan ahead. It became a back-and-forth battle, but Stevi Saling’s quick return gave the Lady Eagles a 17-16 lead, which they held onto for the win.

Sullivan secured the second set 25-21, maintaining their lead despite a close contest. Owensville made a comeback from 20-15 down, but Sullivan regrouped. With a slim 21-20 lead, Johnson’s precise hit, George’s serves and Record’s spike sealed the victory.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Dutchmen 25-22 in the final round. Sullivan initially led, but Owensville made another comeback, being ahead at 18-17. Johnson served an ace to tie the game and the Eagles dominated from there, taking the win.
