Volleyball Faces Three Losses At West Plains Quad

On Saturday, Sep. 16, the Lady Eagles volleyball team experienced three losses at the West Plains Quad.

They struggled against West Plains and came close to defeating Mt. Vernon, but were unable to get past Mountain Grove. Sullivan held a 5-9 record after the tournament.

Regarding the performance of her team, head coach Sarah Rochleau stated, “[It] was a great opportunity to compete with several top teams in the state. While we didn’t come away with any wins, we competed well and made some improvements.”

West Plains

Sullivan’s first match was against West Plains, and they lost 25-23 and 25-16.

Ava Blankenship led with 22 attacks and 10 kills. Abby Record contributed 18 attacks, 4 kills, 2 aces, 2 points and a block. Stevi Saling had 14 attacks, 3 kills and 2 blocks. Emily Clonts made 10 attacks and 3 kills. Raegan Johnson completed 6 attacks, 5 assists, 5 points and an ace. Ava Todd recorded a team-high 19 assists.

Mt. Vernon

Their second match against Mt. Vernon was the closest of the day, but still resulted in losses of 25-20 and 26-24.

Clonts, Record and Blankenship led the team with 12 attacks. Delaney George and Clonts both served a team-high of 3 aces. George also scored the most points with 9. Saling and Record both had the highest number of kills at 3. Todd led the team with 7 assists and Saling had the most aces with 2.

Mountain Grove

In their final match, the Lady Eagles fell to Mountain Grove in both sets, with scores of 25-12 and 25-22.

Johnson delivered a team-high of 7 points and Todd led the team with 9 assists. Blankenship had a team-high of 16 attacks, 7 kills and 3 blocks. Saling contributed 10 attacks, 4 kills, a block, a point and an ace. Clonts completed 11 attacks and 1 kill. Shelby Giebler had 5 attacks, 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Upcoming Events

Varsity volleyball will play at Pacific on Thursday, Sep. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Then they will compete against Rockwood Summit on Monday, Sep. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

Rochleau said about the upcoming schedule, “Before this week’s matches we will be focusing on making some offensive adjustments and just keep working to develop consistency in all of our skills.”
