Volleyball Aces The Court With Awards
Sullivan’s volleyball team saw thirteen Lady Eagles dig up awards on the court and ace the classroom.
Ava Blankenship racked up first-team all-district and all-conference honors. The junior led Sullivan with 304 kills, 84 blocks and 661 attacks. She also notched 61 assists, 34 digs and three aces.
Stevi Saling was a second-team all-district awardee last fall. The senior left a mark on the program with 634 attacks, 195 kills, 74 digs, 37 blocks, 34 assists, 16 points and three aces.
Abby Record earned a second-team all-district spot in her junior season. She recorded 440 attacks, 173 kills, 106 points, 41 blocks, 26 aces, five assists and 54 digs.
Karlee Head received second-team all-district honors. She led Sullivan with 546 assists in just her sophomore year. Head also fired 368 attacks, 270 digs, 186 points, 87 kills, 27 aces and 23 blocks.
Trinity Midyett excelled both on the court and in the classroom. The American Volleyball Coaches Association awarded her a first-team selection (3.80 min. GPA). The requirement for the honor is that a player must have met the indicated junior year GPA and have played in more than 50% of their sets during their senior season. In 2024, Midyett tallied 134 digs, 34 points, 10 aces, seven assists and two attacks.
Saling also dominated the stat and grade books, earning an AVCA Best and Brightest Second-Team spot (3.65 min. GPA).
Seven Lady Eagles received academic excellence honors (4.0 first-quarter GPA): Payton Bray, Thea Hampton, Head, Record, Ava Todd, Hayden Webb and Gentry Weirich.
Nine Sullivan players were named academic all-conference (3.6 first-quarter GPA): Blankenship, Chloe Carson, Andi Giebler, Head, Midyett, Sydney Montee, Record, Saling and Todd.
