Sullivan Wins Conference Championship

The boy’s varsity wrestling team cleaned up in St. Clair on Wednesday. Eight different boys medaled. Several Eagles finished in second and two were crowned champions. Sullivan won the conference championship as a team with 231 points. Pacific followed with 216. St. Clair got third with 188. Union followed with 156. St. James earned 155 and Owensville finished with 84.

For 106, Camden Henderson received byes on the first four rounds. He pinned Mason Link of Pacific at 1:59 to be the Four Rivers champion.

Carter Blankenship represented 113. He received byes on his first two rounds. He was pinned by Timothy Link of Pacific at 5:52 in round four. In round five, Blankenship pinned Grayson Langan at 3:06.

Oliver Borton finished in second place for 120. He fell to Brock Webb of Pacific in round one by 13-9 decision. He received a bye in round two. In round three, Borton pinned Dalton Nochta of Owensville at 1:46. He was pinned by Luke Marlett of St. James at 1:26 in round four. He secured second place in round five when he pinned Union's Logan Garret at 4:44.

For 126, Sam Hecht was pinned by Caden Browning of Pacific at 1:38 in round one. He received byes in rounds two and three. In round four, Ryan Meek of St. Clair pinned him at 5:29. Hecht pinned Brayden Major of Union at 1:38 in round five.

Eli Peregoy was the Four Rivers champion for 132. In round one, he pinned Owensville's Umberto Bertesi in forty five seconds. Peregoy pinned Kurl Conato of Union at 3:31 in round two. He pinned Chaz Strong-Madle of St. James at 1:36 in round three. In round four, he pinned Creek Hughes of St. Clair at 3:44. Peregoy pinned Pacific's Tate Martin at 1:34 in the championship round.

Dominic Ransom finished in second place for 138. In round one, Ransom won by a 21-11 major decision over Dylan Schacht of St. James. Ransom pinned Tyler Blake of Pacific at fifty two seconds in round two. He received a bye in round three. In round four, he pinned Union's Alonzo Gregory at 1:53. Gavin Shoemate of St. Clair pinned Ransom in round five at 2:55.

For 144, Draysen Nolie pinned St. Clair’s Greg Adams in thirty four seconds in round one. He was pinned by Dylan Stout of Pacific at 5:13 in round two. In round three, Nolie pinned Malachi Frazier of Union at 1:22. He was pinned by Logan Crocker of St. James in round four at four minutes and received a bye in round five.

Adam Peregoy finished in second place for 150. He pinned St. Clair’s Casen Blake at 2:20 in round one. In round two, Peregoy defeated Gabriel Soest of Owensville by a 6-0 decision. He pinned Union’s Cayden Roach at 2:23 in round three. Peregoy defeated Pacific’s Lucas Tennyson by a 9-0 major decision in round four. In the championship round, he fell to Grant Rodriguez of St. James by a 8-4 decision.

Colton Brendel medaled in second for 157. He pinned Owensville’s Timothy Winterbauer at 2:42 in round one. In round two, Brendel won by a 9-6 decision over Cody Wilfong of St. James in round two. He was pinned by Brock Woodcock of St. Clair at 3:41 in round three. He received a bye in round four. In round five, Brendel pinned Pacific’s Austin Tennyson at 1:52.

Wieland Schmuke was for 165. In round one, he pinned Jackson Hoak of St. James at 1:43. Union’s Trey Ladymon pinned him in round two at 3:51. In round three, Pacific’s Mason Lucas won by a 21-12 major decision in round three. In round four, He was pinned by St. Clair’s Connor Sikes at 2:53. Schmuke pinned Garret Hunter of Owensville at 1:13 in round five.

Kayden Bryan represented 175. In round one, he was pinned by St. Clair’s Cameron Simcox at 4:19. Bryan pinned Brody Sitze in round two at 3:18. In round three, Carter Wilfong of St. James pinned Bryan at 1:02. He fell to Kaleb Wells of Owensville in round four. Bryan fell to Cameron Shouse of Pacific in round five.

Kane Strehl got second for 190. In round one, he pinned Brendan Kramme of Owensville at 1:20. Strehl won by a 8-0 major decision over Israel Guenzler of Pacific in round two. He won by a 9-5 decision in round three over St. Clair’s Adam Folks. He fell to Traven St. Clair of Union in round four by a 7-4 and received a bye in round five.

Jeremiah Rodriguez finished in second place for 215. In round one, he pinned Zeke Bethel at 2:31. Rodriguez pinned Josua Carpenter of St. James at 1:14 in round two. He received a bye in round three. In round four, Rodriguez pinned Logan Bailey of Owensville in forty three seconds. He fell to Blake McKay of Pacific in the championship round by a 14-5 major decision.

Nolan Center finished off for 285. He was pinned by Hayden Shoemaker in round one at 1:51. He received byes in rounds two and three. In round four, he was pinned by Pacific’s Nathaniel Knaff at 3:07. Center was pinned by Union’s Killian Cordia at 1:13 in round five.
