Sullivan Slays Salem For Fifth Victory In A Row
The Sullivan Eagles varsity basketball team is firing on all cylinders at the start of the season. Sullivan’s record stands at 7-2 after the victory at Salem on Monday. The Eagles dropped against Eldon at home, then won the Linn tournament that following week. Sullivan’s early season motivation drove them to another victory over the Tigers, 54-45.
The two teams tied in points in the first quarter, 12-12. The Eagles outscored Salem by one point and led them going into the second half, 24-23. Sullivan outscored Salem by two points in the third quarter and held the lead, 39-36. The Eagles secured the win in the final quarter when they outscored the Tigers by six.
Chris Glaser scored the most points for Sullivan with 14. Gavin Dace and Aiden Kirk followed with eleven points each. Drake Gawer landed seven. Sam Summers netted six points and Gabe Dace finished with five points.
Sullivan’s defense was exceptional and blasted nine turnovers. Gavin Dace led with four. Max Avery, Gabe Dace, Gawer, Kirk, and Summers each had one. The Eagles collectively had ten steals. Gabe Dace led with six and was followed by Gawer with two. Gavin Dace and Glaser each had one. The Eagles recorded a stellar twenty rebounds. Kirk led the team with an outstanding eight. Gabe Dace followed with six. Gawer and Glaser each finished with three.
