Sullivan Shut Out By Washington Lady Jays

The Lady Eagles fell in a heartbreaking loss to the Lady Jays at home in soccer. This was their first loss in three games. This was only the second time this season that Sullivan was shut out. Washington was aggressive and shot the ball 15 times. Sullivan fell to Washington, 4-0.

In the first half, the Lady Eagles shot the ball plenty of times, but couldn't connect one with the net. Maria Schatzl dove and blocked the ball twice within the first eight minutes. Molly Lohden had a solid headbutt block and Sullivan barely missed a corner kick with a little over twenty-six minutes left. Schatzl left the goal to try to block a ball, but the Lady Jays ran around her and scored their first goal with a little over twenty-four minutes left. Dorie Richardson had a tough battle on defense and Cambria Pohlman ran down the field on a fast break and drew a penalty kick. Washington’s goalie, Nora Mendoza, saved the ball four times before Schatzl blocked a ball. The Lady Jays scored again with a little less than four and a half minutes left. Schatzl jumped and missed the ball in the top corner. Washington scored again when they outran the Sullivan defense.

In the second half, Washington secured the win. Pohlman almost scored again and the Lady Eagles missed on a corner kick opportunity. Washington’s Mendoza saved the ball twice. Karen Dietzler came in to block a penalty kick with a little less than twenty-one and half minutes left. Schatzl saved the ball two more times, before Washington tallied their final net with a penalty kick.

Jada Adams, Emma Brune, and Emly Willman each shot the ball once.

Schatzl gave up the four goals, but saved the ball fourteen times.
