Sullivan Overpowers St. James

Sullivan capitalized on five errors made by St. James on Friday and took advantage in a 9-4 victory.

The Eagles pounded out 15 hits.

The game started when St. James tripled with two outs.

The Tigers plated the run before Eagles starter Lane Blankenship got a strikeout to end the inning.

Sullivan answered right back. Gavin Schmidt led off with a single. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Dayton Skaggs to tie the game at 1-1.

St. James broke the tie in the top of the third.

Dylan Schacht was walked, Riley Williams singled and Brendan Pearson hit them both in to score.

Sullivan caught a runner in between third and home. Catcher Jordan Rice threw to get the base runner and Sullivan was out of the inning.

The Eagles got one of the runs back in the bottom half. Skaggs landed on base  and Tyler Hopen scored him on a double to make it 3-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Sullivan tied the game. Rice got on and scored on a sacrifice fly by Seth Valley that tied the game at 3-3.

St. James went back on top on Pearson’s RBI single in the fourth inning. The Tigers failed to add on and left the bases loaded with a 4-3 lead.

Sullivan took control of the score in the bottom of the fifth.

Hopen was walked, then Trey Behrens brought him in with a game-tying double.

Blankenship and Rice singled to put the Eagles on top.

The runs didn't stop there and Valley slammed another ball into the outfield for an easy double and a RBI. Sullivan was up by two and they brought in Cambrian Koch to close out on the mound.

S. James brought in Schacht for some relief on the mound. He gave up hits  Lane Parsons and Skaggs right away. The Tigers brought in Pearson and Hopen greeted him with an RBI single. Behrens picked up another RBI after that and Sullivan extended their lead.

The Eagles secured the win when Behrens stole home.

Blankenship was the winning pitcher and he finished with six strikeouts. Koch picked up a strikeout during his two innings.

Hopen was the big hitter for Sullivan as he went 3-3.

Behrens and Blankenship went 3-4.

Valley went 2-3 with two RBIs.

Sullivan's record stands at 4-3 and St. James fell to 2-5 on the season.
