Sullivan Girls’ Soccer Earn High Honors
By Wyatt Hardy
The Sullivan Eagles girls’ soccer team had four members who received Four Rivers All-Conference honors. Dorie Richardson was selected 1st team All-Conference. While Cambria Pohlman, Emma Brune, and Maria Schatzl made the 2nd team. Sullivan’s girl soccer team ended their season with an impressive record of 16-7-1.
Dorie Richardson excelled in every sport she played this year including soccer. She was a feared defender on the field. Richardson would snatch the ball from her opponents anytime she could. She is very honored to be selected and states that “I want to give credit to my upperclassmen that had my back and were there to pick me up when I would fail. My team gave me a reason to push myself harder to be better not just for me but for them. There were several girls that deserve this honor just as much as I did, Emma Brune, Anna Brooks, and Cambria Pohlman. They pushed themselves just as much as me and I am honored to have played with them and to call them my teammates.”
Cambria Pohlman made a team-high of 78 shots, 53 points, 20 goals, 12 assists, and 3 game-winning goals. She was one of the leading offensive playmakers for Sullivan, coming in clutch in the game’s biggest moments.
Emma Brune completed 63 shots, 38 points, 15 goals, and 8 assists. In the past, she has been selected 2x first-team all-conference, 2x first-team all-district, and 1x all-region teams. Brune was also selected to the Missouri Soccer Coaches All-State Academic Team and was awarded the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete for Sullivan. Graduating this year, Brune plans to be an elementary school teacher and help others the same way she did on the teams she played on.
Maria Schatzl was an incredible goalie and protected her net better than any other player could. Last season, she had 101 saves with a percentage of .0743. Her incredible skills were also the same in wrestling and she has ranked very high in many tournaments she competed in.
