Sullivan Falls to Union
Sullivan fell short against Union on Friday 41-6.
The Wildcats pounced on Sullivan with three first quarter touchdowns and led 28-0 at the half.
The Eagles put up their only score in the third quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Gabe Dace.
Union ran for 121 yards and quarterback Liam Hughes threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns.
Sullivan fumbled the opening kickoff and Union recovered, setting up a one-play scoring drive. Hughes threw a bullet to Colton Morrow who is wide open for a 33-yard touchdown pass and the Wildcats drew the first blood with a 6-0 lead 16 seconds into the game.
Union scored again as Hughes caught Ryan Ewald of Union downfield for a 30 yard pass and the score was 14-0 after the two-point conversion.
Alex Goly moved the chains a couple times, but the Eagles came up short on offense throughout the first half.
Union scored again in the first quarter of the game. A 12-yard touchdown pass from Hughes to Motley made the score 21-0 after the extra point.
Union found the end zone again on a 36-yard run by Wyatt Birke with 10:45 to go in the second quarter.
Sullivan showed that weren't giving up and answered back when Gabe Dace made an incredible 32-yard chain moving play to Sam Summers at 10:17 in the second quarter. It seemed as if the Eagles had breathed new life and they started attacking.
Sullivan stopped Union for the first time on the Wildcats’ next offensive possession.
Ian King had a big run late in the quarter, but the Eagle did not get a chance to score before the end of the half.
Although there was a fumble by Sullivan they still recovered before Union got it. Gabe Dace kept the ball on a quarterback run and trucked the Wildcats. Sullivan stayed alive on a fourth down 33-yard catch and run by Goly that put the Eagles deep in Union territory. Dace punched the ball in on a 2-yard run to put Sullivan on the board with 4:12 left in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Hughes threw his second touchdown pass to Ewald and Union took a 34-6 lead with 11:53 remaining in the game. Hughes found Ryan Rapert with a 14-yard touchdown pass with 6:41 to go.
