Sullivan Basketball Gears Up For Districts
Sullivan’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete next week in the Class 4 District 3 tournaments.
Boys
St. James will host the boys’ basketball district competition from Tuesday, Feb. 27, to Saturday, Mar. 2.
The sixth-seeded Eagles will play their first game in the quarterfinals against third-seeded Owensville on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. The winner of this match will face off against second-seeded Cuba on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.
The other quarterfinal game will be between fourth-seeded Salem and fifth-seeded St. James on Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. The victor will take on first-seeded Blair Oaks on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
The Class 4 District 3 boys’ basketball championship is scheduled for Mar. 2 at 7 p.m.
Girls
St. Francis Borgia will host the girls’ basketball district tournament from Monday, Feb. 26, to Friday, Mar. 1.
Fifth-seeded Sullivan is scheduled to play in the quarterfinals against fourth-seeded St. Clair on Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. This Lady Eagles-Bulldogs rivalry will extend to its third game this season. Sullivan shut out St. Clair 45-25 in their first matchup but was edged out by the Lady Bulldogs 46-39 in their second. The winner of this quarterfinal game will move on to play the first-seeded St. James on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
The other quarterfinal game is scheduled on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., where third-seeded St. Francis Borgia will clash with sixth-seeded Salem. The victor of this matchup will take on second-seeded Cuba on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
The Class 4 District 3 girls basketball championship game will occur on Friday, Mar. 1, at 6 p.m.
