Softball Scores 15 Runs Against Hermann

On Sep. 7, Hermann was quickly defeated once the Lady Eagles started, resulting in a 15-0 victory against them. The Lady Bearcats have struggled against Sullivan in the past and had already suffered a 15-run victory last season.

Sullivan collected 12 hits and 12 RBIs. Molly Lohden contributed a team-high of 3 runs and 3 hits. Ava Declue and Evvie Blankenship both racked up a run and 2 hits. Dorie Richardson, Hayli Venable, Rae Corwin and Morgan Braun each had 2 runs and a hit.

Starting pitcher Blankenship executed six strikeouts and only allowed just one hit in three innings.

In the top of the first, Sullivan dominated the Lady Bearcats with a total of 8 runs. Lohden scored 2 runs in this inning and was the first to cross the plate as Hermann pursued Declue, who had grounded the ball. Declue, Richardson, Venable, Corwin, Braun and Madison Ortner also smoothly advanced around the bases to score.

In the top of the second inning, the Lady Eagles increased the score to 10-0 when Venable reached home on a passed ball and Jada Brooks scored her first run of the season.

Lohden’s 3rd run of the game and Blankenship’s homer in the top of the third inning sealed the victory for Sullivan. Blankenship blasted the ball over the fence, bringing the score to 13-0. With two more runs by Corwin and Braun, Sullivan secured an early end to the game.
