Softball Kicks Off Week With A 10-0 Victory Over Pacific
The Lady Eagles kicked off their seven-game week with a 10-0 victory against their Four Rivers Conference rival, Pacific on Sep. 5.
Evvie Blankenship delivered another spectacular performance, recording 10 strikeouts and allowing only 3 hits in just 6 innings.
Hayli Venable, McKynlee Peterson and Rae Corwin each scored 2 runs, while Blankenship and Dorie Richardson contributed 1 run each.
The ballgame remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when the Lady Eagles broke free on the diamond. Corwin and Braun ignited Sullivan’s winning mentality by scoring the first two runs on passed balls.
In their next turn at bat, Sullivan increased their lead to 6-0. Venable scored first, Peterson followed later for a tally and then Blankenship raced from second base to slide home. To cap off the inning, Corwin would make her second score of the evening.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Sullivan’s confidence continued to soar to a score of 9-0. Richardson scored swiftly to start the inning, with Venable and Peterson following suit.
As the Lady Eagles returned to bat, Lohden secured the last score to clinch victory. Positioned at third base, she attempted to steal home. Pacific catcher Liz Tollison tried to tag her out and Lohden initially headed back, then she swiftly changed directions multiple times. Lohden ultimately delivered the final blow, barely sliding home and securing the Lady Eagles’ 10-0 victory.
