Schatzl Sets Sights For New College Of Florida
Maria Schatzl will take her goalkeeping skills to the New College of Florida in Sarasota, where she will play for the Mighty Banyans.
Schatzl recorded 490 saves in her four years with the Lady Eagles. Last spring, she received second-team all-district and all-conference honors at the net.
Schatzl finished her high school wrestling career at the state level. During her final season, she placed second at the district tournament and third at conference. Schatzl received an all-area honorable mention for the 155 class.
She was also a triathlete at Sullivan High School and competed in cross country.
Schatzl has gained a tough mentality from all the sports she has participated in, making her the perfect candidate for the Mighty Banyans. This coming season will be the college’s first in The Sun Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA).
