Post 18 Loses In Late Inning Heartbreaker

Sullivan Post 18 fell by a 6-4 final on Wednesday to St. Peters Post 313.

Post 18 tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh but fell short by two runs.

Lucas Parsons pitched seven innings on the mound for Sullivan. He gave up six runs off eight hits.

Parsons recorded three strikeouts.

Isiah Skaggs pitched one inning in relief and had two strikeouts.

Sullivan was first to jump on the board.

Seth Valley was the first batter for Post 18 and he landed on base with a single.

Kaden Smith was walked and Cambrian Koch then reached on an error and the bases were loaded. Valley scored and Sullivan had the lead early, 1-0.

St. Peters bounced back with vengeance when they scored two runs in the top of the third. The rally started when Houran singled and then advanced to second on an error.

Bauer was walked and Houran advanced to third on a passed ball. Bauer stole second before a strikeout and both runners were scored off a single by Schooler.

Post 18 answered back with a run themselves that started with a single by Smith.

Koch grounded out to the pitcher but advanced the runner. Smith scored on a single from Dayton Skaggs and the score was tied 2-2.

St. Peters broke the tie in the top of the fifth. Schooler hit a ground ball and reached on an error. He was scored from a sacrifice fly by Potts.

Post 18 bounced back with a score of their own at their next at bat.

After a strikeout, Koch singled on a hard ground ball. He was scored when Skaggs doubled on a huge line drive to left field, tying the score at 3-3.

Post 313 broke through when they scored three runs late in the game. Houran singled on a line drive and was advanced on a single by Bauer. Houran and Bauer both advanced on a wild pitch and Jezik was intentionally walked and the bases were loaded.

Bauer and Houran was scored on an error made by Sullivan's left fielder. One more run was scored before the end of inning.

Post 18 rallied in their last inning but still came up short. After two outs, Skaggs was walked. He was scored by Beau Beckett on a huge fly ball double to right.

Skaggs and Beckett had the best day at the plate and went 2-3. Sullivan Post 18 had eight hits all together on the day.
