Post 18 Falls At St. Peters Post 313

Sullivan Post 18 came up short against St. Peters Post 313 for the second time this season, losing 9-4 on the road Monday.

Post 18 made a valiant effort, but were unable to keep up with St. Peters after a long sixth inning.

Dustin Lappe got the start on the mound for Sullivan. He had one strikeout and gave up six runs on nine hits.

Isaiah Skaggs came in for relief and gave up three runs on two hits.

The action got started for Sullivan at the top of the second inning.

Nate McReynolds hit a ground ball and reached on an error. Lucas Parsons singled on a line drive to right and McReynolds advanced to third. Seth Valley reached on a dropped third strike and McReynolds scored. Parsons was out advancing to home and Sullivan was on the board.

St. Peters tied up the game in the bottom of third. Potts was the first to single and he advanced to second when the next batter grounded out.

Houran singled on a ground ball to left field and Potts advanced for third. Potts was caught stealing home, but Houran scored on an error.

St. Peters broke the tie in their next at bat and then extended their lead by two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Post 313 added five more runs in the sixth.

The score was 9-1 when Sullivan Post 18 rallied late in the game. The rally started when Parsons was walked.

Valley walked next and Cambrian Koch singled on a hard ground ball that loaded the bases. Brennan Bouse hit a ground ball and reached on an error that scored Parsons. After a strikeout, Valley scored when Beckett ground into a fielder’s choice.

Bouse was out advancing to second and Koch scored on a wild pitch that made the final score 9-4.

Sullivan had seven hits and St. Peters 11 hits.
