    EMILY CLONTS (9) has been a rockstar outside hitter for the Lady Eagles this season and will be one of the four seniors graduating from the team. Lady Eagles Volleyball Sweeps Owensville In District Semifinals

Sullivan (10-18) swept Owensville (10-19-2) with scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23 in the district semifinal game.

This was a rematch between the two teams as Sullivan first beat them on Thursday, Oct. 5.

The 1st set was a breeze for the Lady Eagles as they won 25-19 and consistently maintained a lead throughout.

Sullivan then had to rally back after falling behind in the 2nd set. Stevi Saling, Ava Blankenship and Abby Record delivered clutch kills to secure a 25-21 win.

In the final match, Record’s kill broke the 20-20 tie, sealing the victory.

Regarding the huge win, head coach Sarah Rochleau said, “I thought we did a great job getting off to a fast start in the Owensville match. When Owensville began making a push, we maintained our composure and did the little things right that helped us go on to get the 3-set win.”

Record served up 18 attacks, achieved 5 kills, 2 aces and earned 9 points.

Blankenship executed 23 attacks, notching 10 kills and 3 blocks.

Emily Clonts delivered 20 attacks, secured 5 kills, 2 points and an ace.

Delaney George got an ace, an attack and an assist, as well as 6 points.

Karlee Head picked up 11 assists, 5 attacks, 3 blocks and a kill.

Raegan Johnson racked up 12 attacks, 11 points, 5 assists, 4 aces and 4 kills.

Saling came away with 18 attacks, 8 kills and a block.

Ava Todd made 15 assists, 6 points, 5 attacks, an ace and a kill.

Allie Brune collected 4 points.

Aleah Hunter had an assist.

Upcoming Events

The No. 2 seeded Sullivan faced off against the No. 1 seeded St. Clair on Tuesday, Oct. 24, for the district championship. Stats were not available at press time.

The Lady Eagles first played against the Bulldogs in their final regular season game on Oct. 12. Sullivan won the first set, but fell in the last three.

When reflecting on the first time the Lady Eagles and Bulldogs met, Rochleau described it as “very competitive, despite losing in 4 sets. We are using what we learned in that match to make some adjustments and I think the championship match will be a great game!”

Sullivan hopes to continue their district championship winning streak after beating Salem to move on to state in 2022.
