Lady Eagles Vault Past Rogersville To Reach Fourth Straight Final Four
It's an October tradition.
Sullivan leveraged six Logan-Rogersville errors in Wednesday's Class 3 quarterfinal, winning 7-0 and reaching their fourth straight Final Four and fifth in the last six seasons.
The Lady Eagles (26-9) will face Blair Oaks (30-4) on Friday, Oct. 29 in Springfield in the Class 3 semifinal, looking for a chance to repeat as state champions.
Sullivan's path to next week's Final Four took a similar route as last year.
A year ago, they blanked Logan-Rogersville 4-0 behind the tandem of Hanna Johanning and Jaedin Blankenship in the quarterfinal.
Blankenship smothered the Wildcats by herself on Wednesday.
The junior struck out eight and went the distance against a heavy-hitting lineup.
Up next for Sullivan is another trip to Killian Softball Complex in Springfield, where they have played more than any other Class 3 team the last six seasons.
Sullivan faces a stout Blair Oaks team that is ranked No. 1 in Class 3. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Lady Falcons defeated Fulton 6-1 on Wednesday.
If Sullivan defeats Blair Oaks, they play for the Class 3 championship on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m.
If Blair Oaks wins, Sullivan plays for third on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
