Lady Eagles Rocket Past Grandview At Home

Sullivan steamrolled another basketball opponent on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles have been on a roll this season. They fell to St. James the night before but used the loss for added motivation. Sullivan swished three point baskets all night and grabbed the commanding lead in the first quarter. The Lady Eagles outscored Grandview in all four quarters and Grandview couldn’t score more than five points in each quarter. Sullivan surged past the Grandview Lady Eagles, 47-14.

In the first quarter, Abby Peterson scored the first layup of the game when she stole the ball. Dakayla McClain was found under the hoop and netted another layup. Peterson hit the first three point swish and Olivia Witt sailed in one from the top of the key. Peterson netted another big three and scored two free throws. Grandview’s Lexi Walker was the first to score for them and Sullivan took the commanding lead, 15-2.

In the second quarter, Grandview could only net four more points. Peterson flew through the air with a layup and Hayli Venable scored a layup after a Grandview timeout. Venable netted another layup when she scored on a fast break. DaPhane Polanowski ran on a fast break to the hoop and bounce-passed the ball to Delaney George to score the two. Grandview's Walker scored two free throws and Granview’s Savannah Patterson landed a layup to end the first half. Sullivan led Grandview by a substantial margin, 23-6.

Sullivan added another 12 points in the third quarter. Peterson netted four three point baskets and Grandview only added four points. The same thing happened in the fourth quarter. Grandview only added four points while Sullivan served up another 12 points. Venable netted two three point baskets back to back to start the final quarter. George jammed in a layup after a huge fast break and Grandview took a timeout with 4:14 left in the game. George scored another big layup on a fast break and Venable scored two free throws to finish off Grandview.

Peterson led the team with 24 points. Venable followed with 12 points and George had six. Witt collected three and McClain claimed two.

Sullivan’s defense was stellar and forced 12 turnovers and 16 steals. The Lady Eagles collected 27 rebounds. McClain led in rebounds with six. George had five and Peterson followed with four. Venable and Polanowski each had three. Witt, Kylee McReynolds and Molly Lohden each finished with two.
