Lady Eagles Notch Fourth Straight Victory To End Regular Season

Sullivan’s girls soccer team went into districts with momentum.

The Lady Eagles capped off the regular season with four straight wins. They rolled Dixon, De Soto and Wright City in the final week.

The wins over Dixon and De Soto were shutouts.

Sullivan flourished in the season’s final four weeks.

They won 10 of 12 games to set up Saturday’s Class 2 District 3 quarterfinal against Four Rivers Conference nemesis St. Clair.

The Lady Bulldogs won the previous two contests.

Dixon

Early aggression was the main factor in their 8-0 defeat of Dixon.

Sullivan netted six goals in the first half.

Abby Wiegers led the team with three goals.

Emma Brune and Emily Willman each scored two goals.

Molly Lohden finished with one goal as well as two assists.

Cambria Pohlman and Hayli Venable tallied two assists on the day. Brune also got an assist.

Maria Schatzl spent sixty six minutes as the goalkeeper and saved the ball twice.

De Soto

Sullivan blanked their opponents again the next night at home. The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Dragons, 6-0.

After about 11 minutes of play, Wiegers scored a goal.

Sullivan kept De Soto at their goal most of the first half.

The Lady Eagles were aggressive during the first half. Venable scored a goal with less than a minute left.

Sullivan continued the aggressive right away in the first three minutes of the second half.

De Soto made a good save but Adison Wagner netted another goal just two minutes later.

She made another goal just nine minutes later and a minute later so did Lohden.

Willman tacked on a goal with around nine minutes left.

She also had two assists.

Pohlman added one.

Lohden and Wiegers also tallied assists.

Wright City

The Lady Eagles kept up the win streak two days later.

They traveled to Wright City and won 3-2.

Brune had one goal and two assists.

The other two goals were by Wagner and Wiegers.

Wiegers picked up an assist.

Schatzl played all 80 minutes as the goalkeeper. She only allowed two goals but saved the ball three times.
