Lady Eagles Finish Second At Lutheran St. Charles Tournament
Sullivan’s girls soccer team took second place Thursday at the Lutheran St. Charles Tournament.
After falling in two of three games at the Warrenton Tournament to open the season, the Lady Eagles bounced back.
They were victorious against Festus and Hazelwood Central, but fell to Lutheran St. Charles to settle for second place.
Festus
Sullivan claimed the early lead against Festus when Emma Brune and Abby Wiegers scored goals in the first half. Emily Wilman scored another goal in the second half and the Festus Lady Tigers tried to answer back with two goals of their own in the second half but it wasn't enough.
Cambria Pohlman and Emma Adams also shot the ball. Maria Schatzl picked up the win for Sullivan and saved the ball four times from it hitting the net.
She played all 80 minutes of the game. The final score was 3-2.
Hazelwood Central
The goals were plentiful against Hazelwood Central.
Sullivan took the early lead in the first half with two unanswered goals by Brune and Anna Brooks.
Wiegers blasted another goal with six minutes left in the first half. The Lady Eagles kept running the score up when they scored three more goals in the second half of the game. Pohlman was the next Lady Eagle make on in the back of the net.
Shelby Giebler and Dorie Richardson secured the win for Sullvian when they each scored a goal in the second half. Adams and Hayli Venable each shot the ball as well. Evvie Blankenship and Molly Lohden shot the ball twice. Jada Adams shot the ball four times.
Schatzl played all 80 minutes in the goal and saved the ball once from hitting the back of the net. Sullivan won, 6-0.
Lutheran St. Charles
Lutheran St. Charles took the early lead when they scored one in the first half and Sullivan couldn't answer back. Lohden was the lone Lady Eagle to shoot but came up short. Schatzl played all 80 minutes as goalie and only gave up one goal. She saved the ball eight times from reaching the back of the net. Sullivan fell to Lutheran St. Charles, 1-0.
