Lady Eagles Fight On To Consolation In Union
Girls’ basketball (3-9) suffered defeats in both of their opening games at the Union tournament, losing 48-16 to New Haven (5-7) and 49-21 to Union (8-4). Sullivan’s final match in the tournament will be against St. Clair in the consolation game on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m.
New Haven
Sullivan fell 48-16 to the Lady Shamrocks on Thursday, Jan. 11. New Haven went 1-1 in pool play and will compete for 3rd place this Saturday.
The Lady Eagles completed only 15% of their field goals, 9% of their three-pointers and 50% of their free throws. Sullivan also accumulated 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
New Haven displayed a high-powered offense by shooting 83% of their free throws, 61% of their field goals, and 60% of their three-pointers. They also tallied 22 rebounds, 15 assists, seven steals and two blocks.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
Sullivan will rematch the Lady Shamrocks at home on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
Union
For their second matchup the following Saturday, the Lady Eagles struggled again in a 49-21 loss against Union. The Lady Wildcats are 2-0 in pool play and slated for the championship game.

They will face off against the Lady Wildcats again at Union at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15.
