Lady Eagles Fall In Season Opener
Sullivan’s girls basketball team on Monday fell 36-34 to Montgomery County in their season opener.
Sullivan forced 22 turnovers, limited Montgomery County to 32% shooting and kept them off the scoreboard in the second quarter, but were unable to come away with a victory.
The Lady Wildcats outscored Sullivan 11-4 in the first quarter.
Sullivan shut Montgomery County out in the second quarter, taking a 16-11 lead into the half.
Montgomery County controlled the game from there. They broke out of their slump and outscored the Lady Eagles 15-6. Sullivan trailed 26-22 going into the final quarter.
While Sullivan would outscore the Wildcats, they were unable to overtake them.
Abby Peterson led the team with 17 points.
Dakayla McClain followed with seven.
Delaney George and Raegan Johnson each scored three points.
Molly Lohden and Olivia Witt finished with two.
Sullivan’s next game will be at Summit on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
