Lady Eagles Fall In Overtime

The Sullivan Lady Eagles basketball team came short against Summit on Wednesday. The ladies opened the season with two away games, both ending in defeat. Sullivan took the lead early when they scored 15 points in the second quarter. The Lady Falcons posted a comeback in the fourth when they posted 18 points. The game was tied and went into overtime and Summit took the victory by five points, 50-45.

Sullivan forced 22 turnovers and Senior Abby Peterson tallied half. The Lady Eagles kept the Lady Falcons at 36%. Sullivan squeezed by Summit in the first, 8-6. The Lady Eagles added to their lead when they outscored Summit again, 15-6. The score was 23-12 at the end of the first half. The Lady Falcons stormed out with a comeback and controlled the game in the second half. Summit outscored Sullivan by two in the third, 10-8. The Lady Falcons tied the game to end regular play, 18-9. Summit secured the win in overtime by five points.

Peterson led the team in points with 24.

Hayli Venable and Dakayla McClain followed with six points. Kylee McReynolds secured four points. Molly Lohden landed three points and Olivia Witt finished with one.

Peterson led in rebounds with 12. She was followed by McReynolds and McClain with four. Alex Bylo connected with three. Witt had two and Lohden finished with one.
