Lady Eagles Fall Late To Pacific At Home

The Lady Eagles suffered a heartbreak on Monday at their home soccer field. Sullivan took the lead early in the first half, but Pacific grabbed the second half motivation. The ladies had two first half goals and the Lady Indians claimed only one goal in the first. Pacific tied the game and secured the win in the second half. Sullivan fell to Pacific by one, 3-2.

In the first half, Sullivan shined early. Dorie Richardson was stellar on the defense in the beginning and goalie Maria Schatzl saved the ball with a little under thirty minutes left. Jada Adams missed a free kick, but Cambria Pohlman landed Sullivan’s first goal a minute later. Richardson continued her great defense and Schatzl saved the ball again from the net. The Lady Indians were very aggressive with their shooting and almost got a goal. Sullivan returned the aggression with Molly Lohden netting another goal at a little over twelve minutes left. Pacific jumped on the board when Pacific’s Abigail Hill scored on a penalty kick with a little over ten minutes left in the half. Pacific’s Brooke Bearden missed a free kick with a little under thirty seconds left to finish the half. Sullivan led, 2-1.

In the second half, the Lady Indians secured the win. The Lady Eagles almost got a goal within the first three minutes. Schatzl worked hard with the aggressive shooting by Pacific. Sullivan missed a corner kick opportunity with a little under twenty five minutes left. Pacific just barely scored a goal when Schatzl dove and the ball was just out of her reach. The game was tied at two with a little over fifteen minutes left. The Lady Indians kept the momentum when Pacific’s Taylor Snider scored a goal with a little less than twelve minutes left. Sullivan never could connect on another goal and Pacific won, 3-2.

Adams shot the ball once and so did Lohden. Lohden and Pohlman scored the two goals for Sullivan. Pohlman also shot the ball twice. Emma Brune grabbed the only assist.

Schatzl put on an extravagant performance as the goalkeeper for all eighty minutes. She worked hard against the aggressive Pacific shooting and saved the ball thirteen times from seeing the net. She only gave up three goals.
