Lady Eagles Continue Their Domination

The Lady Eagles soccer team has been a dominant force so far this year. Maria Schatzl and the rest of Sullivan’s defense have shut out six opponents this season. The Lady Eagles went on to shut out both of their opponents this week. Sullivan collapsed Owensville on the road on Tuesday, 3-0. They continued the momentum at home on Thursday and defeated St. James, 7-0.

Owensville

The Lady Eagles started their stellar week on the road. The Lady Eagles landed a goal in the first half and secured the win in the second half with two more goals. Sullivan traveled to Owensville to defeat the Dutchgirls, 3-0.

Tessa Newman secured a goal and shot the ball three times. Cambria Pohlman secured the other two goals and shot the ball twice with one assist. Molly Lohden, Emily Willman and Emma Brune shot the ball three times. Anna Brooks, Hayli Venable, Karen Dietzler and Alaina Wall each shot the ball once.

Schatzl played all 80 minutes as the goalkeeper and saved the ball four times from seeing the net.

St. James

The girls continued their momentum in their game against St. James on Thursday at home. The Lady Eagles stamped out the Lady Tigers early when they landed four goals in the first half. Sullivan secured the win with three more goals in the second half and surged past St. James, 7-0.

In the first half, Dietzler was the goalie for Sullivan and saved the ball from going into the net with a little less than thirty two and a half minutes left. The Lady Eagles landed a goal from a corner kick. Pohlman was wide open and launched the ball into the left side of the net.

Lohden almost landed another goal, but the ball sailed over the net. Allie Jones of St. James ran the ball down the field on a fast break, but was abruptly stopped by Dorie Richardson on the defense. Kara Schmidt handled the ball well and missed a shot just outside of the goal. She kept up her great handling skills and passed the ball to Brune, who sailed the ball in for their second goal. Almost three minutes later, Brune knocked in another goal to increase their lead. Schmidt landed a goal before the end of the first half and Sullivan was up, 4-0.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles kept up the motivation and sailed in three more goals. Pohlman netted a penalty kick within the first two minutes. Brooks did the same thing again after a minute went by on the game clock. Sullivan kept up the aggression and almost connected on another corner kick. The Lady Tigers stopped the ball three more times, before Sullivan missed on two more corner kick opportunities. St. James saved the ball from going into the net with a little over thirteen minutes left. The Lady Eagles added insult to injury when Pohlman peppered another goal from twenty five yards back with twenty five seconds left on the clock.

Schmidt netted two goals and shot the ball three times. Brune and Pohlman each shot the ball eight times and landed two goals. Brooks shot the ball twice and landed one goal. Lohden also shot the ball twice. Tessa Newman shot the ball six times and grabbed an assist. Pohlman also had two assists. Addison Wagner, Zehn Porter and Wall each shot the ball once.

Dietzler was the goalie for the first half of the game and saved the ball twice from the net. Evvie Blankenship was the second half goalie and saved the ball once from the net.
