Kylee McReynolds Inks With State Fair Community College

By Wyatt Hardy

Kylee McReynolds has signed with State Fair Community College to continue her basketball career with the Roadrunners and will major in nursing.

She excelled as a shooting guard for the Lady Eagles. In her senior year, she scored 83 points, grabbed 90 rebounds, made 42 assists and recorded 40 steals. The team, coached by Jordan Mehl, finished with an 11-15 record.

McReynolds emphasizes her strengths as “100% effort all the time, being a good teammate and defense.”

She faced tough copetition in high school but expects the collegiate teams “to be quicker paced [with] better ball handling, shooting and defense.”

The State Fair women’s basketball team, led by head coach Nicole Collier, had a 13-16 record last season and competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 16.

Sullivan High School prepared McReynolds for success and the ability to compete at the collegiate level. “Having coaches and teammates who pushed me every day in practice and taught me to never settle for mediocrity helped prepare me for college ball,” she says.

Located in Sedalia, State Fair Community College got its name from its proximity to the Missouri State Fairgrounds. It prioritizes smaller classes and lowers tuition fees.

McReynolds feels it’s the perfect spot for her, stating, “[It] is a good fit for me, athletically and academically, as well as the size of the town. Sedalia has around 20,000 people, so it’s a good mix of big and small town.”

At State Fair, McReynolds has found her calling and will continue her love of playing basketball, saying, “my goal in college basketball is to have as much fun playing as I did in high school.” She also plans to still study hard to also pursue her dream career of being a nurse.
