Koch’s Homer Rallies Eagles Ahead To Beat Steelville Cards 10-7

Cambrian Koch’s home run in the top of the 5th rallied the Eagles to tie it and eventually soar to a 10-7 victory over Steelville on Wednesday, Mar. 27. The Cardinals’ shorter field also paved the way for Chase Blue and Drake Gawer to cook up two home runs.

Steelville took back the scoreboard with two runs on their opening two offensive turns.

In the top of the third, Drake Gawer shifted the momentum back to Sullivan by hitting home and driving in a run by Gavin Schmidt, putting the Eagles ahead 3-2.

Afterward, when the Cardinals returned to the bat, they swooped up five runs, including a grand slam that handed them a 7-3 lead.

Raiden Redd ignited Sullivan’s rally back in the top of the 5th by scoring on Mitchell Garner’s single. Koch then drilled a home run with Dayton Skaggs and Garner on the bases, tying it 7-7.

The Eagles continued to fire on all cylinders in the next inning, with Blue’s ground single leading Doza and Schmidt to take home. Alex Toews put the final nail in the coffin with Sullivan’s 10th run.
