JV Lady Eagles Survive Lions In Nail-Biting Season Finale

The JV girls’ basketball team had a fitting end to their season in a 28-27 victory over Northwest (Cedar Hill).

The Lady Lions racked up five unanswered points in the final 67 seconds and got to a one-point deficit. But, with as clutch as Sullivan’s JV team has been this year, they refused to let Northwest snatch their last win.

“I guess they just like close games because I was nervous,” Sullivan head coach Bria Miller said after her team survived another nail-biter.

Miller is proud of her team’s improvement and capping off the season with a five-game winning streak, stating, “From day one to now, we’re a totally different team. We’ve gotten so much better, so I’m very, very proud of the girls for working hard. They wanted to win; they had a lot of heart.”

In the first half of the season finale, Northwest locked down the arc, preventing Sullivan from hitting many three-pointers like usual. They also rushed the Lady Eagles up and down the court, a weakness that had plagued Sullivan previously. She is happy to see her squad close out their season on a high note and is excited to see what these players will continue to do for Sullivan.
