JV Lady Eagles Bounce Back With 36-15 Victory Against New Haven

“I am just really, really, really proud of the girls, like super proud,” Sullivan head coach Bria Miller said after her JV team slayed New Haven 36-15 on Thursday, Feb. 8.

After a crushing 21-point loss to St. James just three days before, Miller mentioned that “we needed [a win], especially after our loss to St. James.”

The coach credits Sullivan’s victory to “We didn’t let the other team speed us up, which has been a repeating thing lately that we’ve been trying to get better at. So, tonight, it was awesome. We moved the ball, we shared the ball, everyone was getting touches.”

Freshman guard Sydney Montee delivered an early hat trick of three-pointers and a layup on a fast break to put the Eagles ahead 11-2 by the end of the first quarter.

Sullivan’s defense continued to play aggressively, and their offense fired on all cylinders in the second. Montee and freshman guard Addison Fore strung up three-pointers, Ava Hayes made a layup and Eden Lambert executed a free throw to assert their dominance.

The Lady Eagles entered the locker rooms feeling confident, up 20-7 at halftime, but Miller reminded her team to finish off strong. “You always expect the team to make adjustments and come out stronger. So telling the girls you know [they] can’t let up. You gotta keep going; keep pushing,” the coach stated.
