Girls/Boys’ Basketball Struggles To Soar Over Pacific

The girls’ basketball team (5-16) carried a two-point lead over the Lady Indians (11-12) until Pacific senior Abbey Hall fast broke for two and picked up a free throw to put them up 37-36 with 41 seconds remaining. The Lady Eagles couldn’t soar ahead and fell short 39-36 in Pacific on Monday, Feb. 12.

On offense, Sullivan completed 25.5% (12-47) of their field goals and 38.5% (5-13) free throws in the conference clash. They also racked up 26 rebounds, 11 steals and nine assists.

Pacific executed 41.2% (14-34) of their field goals and 42.1% (8-19) of their free throws. They tallied 27 rebounds, seven steals and six assists.

Sullivan freshman guard Karlee Head broke her game-scoring record with a team-high 16 points, making all her shots on three-pointers, going 5-9. She also pulled off four steals, three rebounds and an assist.

Junior forward Cora Shetley completed 3-5 of her field goals and 2-6 of her free throws for 8 points. She also had six rebounds, a steal and an assist.

Junior forward Rayna Claus held a team-high seven rebounds, with a point and an assist.

Junior guard Molly Lohden led her team with five steals. She also grabbed 6 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Boys

Sullivan (4-19) failed to break through the Pacific Indians (8-13) in a 50-41 conference loss on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The Eagles delivered 41.9% (13-31) of their field goals and 61.9% (13-21) of their free throws. They tallied 17 rebounds, nine assists and nine steals.

The Indians completed 70.4% (19-27) of their field goals and 64.3% (9-14) of their free throws. They also had 15 assists, 13 rebounds and seven steals.

Junior guards Chris Glaser and Seth Valley tied for a team-high 10 points for the Eagles. Glaser was nearly flawless on free throws, going 5-6. He also recorded three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Valley went 5-6 on his field goals and had three assists.

Freshman guard Landen Doza was Sullivan’s second-highest team scorer with 8 points. He also grabbed five rebounds and an assist.

Senior forward Max Avery led the Eagles with six rebounds and three steals. He also collected 6 points and two assists.

Due to inclement weather on Friday, Feb. 16, the varsity Eagles’ other conference matchup against Union was postponed to Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
