Girls/Boys’ Basketball Falls To Owensville On Pink Out Night

Both Sullivan varsity basketball teams struggled to overcome the Owensville Dutchmen on the 13th Annual Lee McKinney Coaches Care Night on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Girls

The Lady Eagles (5-19) were defeated 57-27 by a tough Owensville squad (17-7).

Sullivan executed 46.7% (7-15) of their free throws and 27.6% (8-26) of their field goals. They tallied up 19 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and a block.

Owensville completed 50% (7-14) of their free throws and 42.9% (21-49) of their field goals. The Lady Dutchmen racked up 20 rebounds, 17 assists, 13 steals and two blocks.

Boys

The boys’ basketball team (4-20) struggled to overcome the Dutchmen (9-14) in a 60-42 loss. Both teams were neck-and-neck until the mid-second quarter when Sullivan could not keep up with Owensville’s speed.

The two conference teams rematched a week later in the district quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Stats for both Owensville games were unavailable at press time.

Three days later, on Friday, Feb. 23, Sullivan (4-21) was defeated 70-44 in their final regular-season game against Union (13-12).
