Girls Wrestling Takes 3rd At FRC With Four Individual Champions
The girls’ wrestling team finished 3rd at the Four Rivers Conference tournament on Thursday, Jan. 11 in Pacific. St. Clair earned the conference title, securing their fifth championship.
Jade Studdard (135) was the conference champion in her class and unbeatable on the mat. She swiftly shut down Joie Shirey (Pacific) at 1:22, Chloe Richardson (Union) at 1:14, Kylie Bates (Owensville) at 2:21 and Audrey Declue (St. Clair) at 4:54.
Dorie Richardson (140) also clinched first place. She pinned Katelyn Alexander (Union) in 0:53 and Merrick Blankenship (Owensville) in 3:18 while beating Peyton Dunn (St. Clair) in a 3-1 decision.
Alyssa Beers (190) made the top of the podium for her class and shut down Madison Lewis (Owensville) at 5:00.
Abigail Erfurth (235) placed 1st in her group, with her sole win being a quick 0:44 pin against Emma Bay (St. Clair).
Ruby Daily (170) finished in 2nd place and had both victories be under two minutes. She took down Gianna Schreck (Union) at 1:34 and Alexis Brison (St. Clair) at 1:15. Her only fall was to Bailee Dare (Owensville).
Mariah Denney (120) ranked 2nd in her class. She emerged victorious with a 5:30 pin over Lilly Verrett (St. Clair) and a 3:40 fall over Makenzie Carpenter (Owensville). Her only loss was a 4-2 sudden victory against Zoe Fisher (Pacific) in her second round.
Mariah Schatzl (115) and Karen Dietzler (11) landed 3rd. Sadie Altimus's (145) placement was unknown.
