Girls Wrestling Gets Season Rolling At Wright City
The Lady Eagles hit their first mats of the season at the Wright City Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Dorie Richardson (4-0) went undefeated in her four bouts, taking first place in the 145 class and racking up 18 points. She pinned Addison Orscheln (Moberly) in 3:59, Avery Luttrell (Osage) in 2:12, Hannah See (Osage) in 2:00 and Jayden Mhandu (Liberty-Wentzville) in 0:41.
Ruby Daily (4-1) also clinched the podium with a second-place finish in the 170 class. She dominated her first four fights, defeating Katie Summers (Sullivan) in 3:29, Lauren Ritter (Wright City) in 4:35, Madilyn Headly (Liberty-Wentzville) in 0:33 and Keira Johnson (Liberty-Wentzville) in 0:28. The senior dropped her final round to Ellyse Lorenson (Palmyra) by technical fall. Daily tallied 20 points for her team.
Abigail Erfurth (3-1) medaled at second in the 235 class and scored 12 points. She first locked up Lilionna Greenwood (Hannibal) in 1:11, Maci Lamb (Osage) in 1:06 and Kylie Vance (Warrenton) in 3:21. The sophomore gave up the top spot to Alexus Johns (Mexico), whom she fell to in 2:28.
Chloe Carson (1-3) finished fourth in the 155 class and scored 3 points. She wrapped up Alex Dierberg (Union) in 1:45 to win her first bout. The sophomore put up a tough fight in her final three duels. Carson lost a 10-8 decision to Alex Dierberg (Union) and a 10-6 result to Teighan Carson (Osage) and then fell in 1:00 to Breanne Gibbs (Moberly).
Summers (1-4) ranked fourth in the 170 class and recorded 7 points. The senior took down Johnson (Liberty-Wentzville) in 1:19 for her only win. Summers showed grit in her three losses: falling 3:29 to her teammate Daily, 0:49 to Ritter (Wright City) and 3:07 to Lorenson (Palmyra).
The Lady Eagles landed tenth out of fourteen squads at the Wright City Tournament.
