Girls Golf Swings Into Action

Girls golf tees off the 2024 season at a home tri-meet on Sept. 5. Sullivan will play Union and Pacific at 4 p.m.

Before then, the Lady Eagles will fine-tune their skills at a black/gold scrimmage on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. at their golf course.

With a busy schedule ahead, head coach Brandi Byrd says she and her girls “are looking forward to more home meets this year.” This includes the Four Rivers Conference Tournament, which Sullivan will host on Sept. 27.

Byrd stated they are also excited to go to St. James since it “will be new to the girls.”

Before taking swings against other clubs, the Lady Eagles “have been focusing on green work and mid-to-long wedge work.” Byrd explained, “Last year, we needed more work when they were close to the green. This year, we are being more intentional with their drills.”

Sullivan’s head coach stated their goal this season is “to see more consistency with our girls while they are on the course.” She continued saying, “They each have individual things they need to work on, so just working on those at their pace.”

The team will have thirteen golfers for the 2024 season.

Rayna Claus is the only senior on the roster.

There are six juniors: Maggie Zweifel, Claire Yoest, Parker Stout, Isabel Peterson, Liberty Koch and Kennedy Kloos.

The sophomores are Allianna Martin, Ava Hayes, Alyssa Beers and Olivia Barton.

Freshmen Aleeyah Sanders and Lillie Craig will make their debuts on the course.
