Girls Basketball Faces A Tough Defeat To Washington

The varsity girls basketball team (3-6) fell 35-15 at Washington (4-3) on Monday, Dec. 18.

Sullivan had 23 rebounds, five steals and a block. They executed 12% of their field goals and 50% of their free throws.

Washington tallied up 34 rebounds, 11 steals, seven assists and five blocks. They completed 43% of their free throws, 31% of their field goals and 29% of their 3-pointers.

Guard Molly Lohden and forward Cora Shetley tied for the highest number of points for Sullivan at 4. Lohden scored 1-0 on field goals and 2-2 on free throws, while Shetley went 2-0 on field goals.

Guards Delaney George, Karlee Head, Avery Merkel, Kynlee Peterson and Hayli Venable each had 1 point made and 1 out of 2 free throws completed.

Guard Raegan Johnson scored 2 points with a 1-1 field goal ratio.

Individual stats for defense were not available at press time.

After Winter Break, Sullivan’s first game will be at Potosi on Thursday, Jan. 4. The junior varsity will be at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.

They will play the week afterward in Union at a tournament starting Monday, Jan. 8.

The Lady Eagles will compete at home against Cuba on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The junior varsity will play at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity will be at 7 p.m.
